Emergency and Transitional Accommodation for Women and Women with Children (boys younger than 12) is available at YWCA Community Development Centre at 285 Hereford Street.

No bookings taken. An interview is required to access accommodation.

A weekly rental is required and usually paid in advance. Rooms are pleasantly furnished, linen and all necessary equipment is available in the accommodation units. No additional charge is made for telephone, internet and power. Tokens are required to use the clothes dryer.

Residents provide their own food.  There is a common lounge for visitors/whanau and can be booked for a few hours.

Assistance is available for women to apply to HNZ, CCC and private rental situations to get long-term and permanent accommodation.

Alcohol, drugs or non-prescribed medication are prohibited on the premises and no resident will be admitted if under the influence of prohibited substances. The YWCA has a zero tolerance policy for non-prescription drugs, alcohol, violent/abusive behavior and non payment of rent.
